The man behind Ramblin Winemaker.

It all started for Tyler at the age of 19 when he was working as a server at a country club in the Central Valley where he grew up. Tyler discovered that complimenting his guest’s wine selection resulted in them sharing a glass of their premium wines with him. He didn’t exactly know why he was enjoying the wines but thus began Tyler’s insatiable quest for everything concerning wine.

After freshly moving to upstate New York at the age of 21, Tyler found himself working at a wine shop, quickly memorizing the inventory with a sort of Photographic memory to supernatural accuracy, helping secure his title as wine buyer after only 6 months of working at the shop.

Eventually, Tyler’s interest in wine production grew too large to ignore. From there he packed his bags and headed to Paso Robles to pursue his dreams. It didn’t take long for him to get a tasting room gig at Dover Canyon Winery where he was shown the ropes of the trade, honing his knowledge while performing any job big or small. After Dover Canyon Tyler began methodically crafting his winemaking and cellar skills at other Paso Robles wineries including Justin, Zenaida and Calcareous, while investing his spare time into his own project called Nelle Winery which produced its first wines in 2006.

By the 2015 vintage Tyler was ready to redirect the daily grind of working for other wineries and focus purely on his own projects. This was a turning point for him seeing how he could now focus the majority of his time on the wines he cared most about. Since then he has been committed to honing his craft and learning as much as he can on how to farm the land he loves so much. Currently Tyler is working on launching a new project. One that will be an accumulation of everything he has learned along the way. Stay tuned…
